Erling Haaland has revealed why he felt the need to speak out about his Borussia Dortmund future earlier this month. But the striker is now keen to move on.
Erling Haaland sparked plenty of speculation earlier this month when he claimed that Borussia Dortmund were pressuring him into making a decision about his future soon. The BVB bosses were left surprised by his comments, but made it clear that there is no deadline for the striker to decide his future. The Norwegian international has now explained his comments.
In an interview with Viaplay, Haaland said that he felt that it was time for him to say something with so much speculation going on about his future beyond the end of the season. The 21 year old added that he does not want to talk about his future too much at the moment.
"“I don’t really want to say too much about it. But I felt it was time for me to say something, a lot of others were speaking so that was it. And now I really don’t want to say too much more about it. I think what has been said has been said, and now we move on.”"
Haaland is being heavily linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund, with the likes of Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Manchester City among the many top clubs battling for his signature. The Black and Yellows are also looking to convince him to stay on for at least another season, and they are even said to be willing to increase his salary.
Haaland, who still has two and a half years left on his Borussia Dortmund contract, also spoke about his recent injury troubles and said that he expects to return to action soon.
It is being reported that Haaland’s injury is not expected to keep him out for long. And he could even return to the squad for Borussia Dortmund’s next game against Bayer Leverkusen on February 06.
