Report: Borussia Dortmund interested in signing Niklas Süle on a free transfer

Borussia Dortmund are said to be in the race to sign Niklas Süle, who is set to leave Bayern Munich when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Bolstering the defence appears to be high on Borussia Dortmund’s list of priorities for the summer transfer window. The Black and Yellows have been linked with moves for Nico Schlotterbeck, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Andreas Christensen in recent months. The latest name to be added to the club’s list of reported transfer targets is Bayern Munich centre-back Niklas Süle.
Sport1 and WAZ both report that Borussia Dortmund have entered the race to sign the 26 year old, who will be available on a free transfer in the summer with his contract at Bayern Munich set to expire.
The reports both add that the BVB bosses have already held initial talks with the German international, and a decision on his future is expected to be made soon. But Sport1 claim that a move abroad appears to be more likely at the moment. The likes of FC Barcelona and Chelsea are also said to be interested in signing Süle.
Süle joined Bayern Munich from TSG Hoffenheim in 2017, and has been ever-present in their back-line over the last few years. However, his time at Bayern is coming to an abrupt end with reports claiming that he feels under appreciated at the club.
Süle has made a total of 158 appearances for Bayern Munich. He has won four Bundesliga titles, the UEFA Champions League and the DFB-Pokal with the Bavarian club.
