Report: Noussair Mazraoui high on Borussia Dortmund’s list of defensive targets

Ajax full-back Noussair Mazraoui is reportedly high on Borussia Dortmund’s list of potential targets as they look to bolster their defence in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund have already made their first move ahead of the new season with the signing of Niklas Süle. More reinforcements are likely in the summer, especially in defence. And one player who could arrive is Ajax full-back Noussair Mazraoui. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the 24 year old is high on Borussia Dortmund’s list of targets for defence.

The newspaper adds that there have not been any concrete negotiations yet between the two parties. But that could change soon, as Mazraoui is represented by Mino Raiola, who is also the agent of Erling Haaland.

Mazraoui’s contract with Ajax is set to expire at the end of the season. And the right-back said last month that there is only a 5% chance of him staying with the Dutch giants beyond the summer. A number of other clubs are also said to be interested in signing him, including FC Barcelona, Arsenal, AS Roma and Aston Villa.

Mazraoui has made a total of 24 appearances for Ajax so far this season, and has five goals and three assists to his name. He was also part of the Ajax side that defeated Borussia Dortmund both home and away in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season.

Thomas Meunier is currently Borussia Dortmund’s first choice right-back, and Marius Wolf and Felix Passlack have also been used in that role this season. The highly rated Mateu Morey is currently on the road to recovery after suffering a serious knee injury last season.
