Borussia Dortmund U-19s will go up against Manchester United in the UEFA Youth League round of 16, with the tie set to be played on March 1/2, 2022.
Borussia Dortmund U-19s will continue their UEFA Youth League journey with a trip to England to take on Manchester United in the round of 16. Having beaten Italian side Empoli in the playoffs last week, the young Black and Yellows will be looking to continue what has been an impressive run in the competition so far.
The one-legged tie will take place on March 1/2, 2022, and the winner will go on to face one of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals. The semi-finals and finals of the UEFA Youth League are due to take place in Nyon in April.
Borussia Dortmund U-19s have enjoyed a memorable UEFA Youth League campaign so far, with the club’s talented youngsters showing their incredible potential. Only Midtjylland (27) have scored more goals than Dortmund (21) in the tournament so far this season.
Mike Tullberg’s side finished second in their group behind Sporting CP, with a stunning 5-1 win away to Ajax being the highlight of their run so far. The Borussia Dortmund U-19s claimed a come from behind 5-3 win over Empoli in Italy to qualify for the round of 16, with Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Julian Rijkhoff, Bradley Fink and Lion Semic all on the score-sheet.
Head coach Mike Tullberg believes that the Manchester United tie will be a tough, but exciting challenge for his side. “It’s a tough draw, of course, but also a very attractive one. We will do everything we can to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since we started taking part,” Tullberg said.
Manchester United U-19s finished top in their UEFA Youth League group, with five wins and one defeat to their name.
