Gio Reyna forced off with an injury on his first Borussia Dortmund start since August
Gio Reyna was forced to come off during Borussia Dortmund’s win over Borussia Mönchengladbach after picking up an injury.
Gio Reyna suffered another injury blow on his return to the starting XI during Borussia Dortmund’s 6-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday. Making his first start for the Black and Yellows since late August, the USMNT international suffered an injury and walked off the pitch in tears as he was forced to come off in the 27th minute.
Reyna had only made his return to action earlier this month after spending five months on the sidelines due to a muscle injury that he suffered while on international duty with the United States. This was only his third appearance since his return to action, and his first from the starting XI.
It is currently unclear what the severity of Reyna’s latest injury is or how long he will be out for. Marco Rose spoke about the 19 year old’s injury after the game. And while he did not have an update yet, he did say that Borussia Dortmund will try to give Reyna all the support they can to help him get back to his best.
Borussia Dortmund suffered another blow just a few minutes after Gio Reyna’s injury, as Dan-Axel Zagadou was forced to come off with what looked like a thigh injury. It remains to be seen how serious Zagadou’s injury is. But his potential absence leaves Dortmund very light in central defence, with Manuel Akanji also sidelined at the moment with a torn muscle fibre.
