There is growing hope that Erling Haaland will be available for the second leg of Borussia Dortmund’s tie against Rangers, after he took part in the entire training session on Monday.

Erling Haaland has been sidelined for almost a month now, having suffered a muscle injury during Borussia Dortmund’s win over TSG Hoffenheim last month. He now appears to be finally closing in on his return to action, and there is hope that he could be back in the squad for the second leg of Dortmund’s UEFA Europa League tie against Rangers on Thursday.

Haaland took part in the entire 90 minute training session with the rest of the Borussia Dortmund reserve players on Monday. The Black and Yellows have been careful with the striker’s fitness in order to ensure that they do not rush his return to action.

Borussia Dortmund need to overcome a two goal deficit in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League knockout round playoffs tie against Rangers. And the return of Haaland will definitely increase their chances of pulling off a stunning comeback on Thursday. Marco Rose’s side prepared for the Rangers test by earning a dominant 6-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

While Haaland appears to be closing in on his return to action, Borussia Dortmund will have to make do without Gio Reyna and Dan-Axel Zagadou on Thursday. Reyna’s injury appears to be a minor one, but Zagadou is facing a much longer spell on the sidelines. Manuel Akanji is also out with a muscle injury at the moment.
