Rangers vs Borussia Dortmund: UEFA Europa League team news
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund will again have to make do without Erling Haaland as they look to turn around their UEFA Europa League tie against Rangers.
Borussia Dortmund have it all to do as they go up against Rangers in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League knockout round playoffs tie on Thursday. Having suffered a shock 4-2 defeat in the first leg, the Black and Yellows must win by at least two goals at the Ibrox Stadium to have any chance of progressing to the round of 16.
Pulling off an incredible comeback on Thursday certainly won’t be easy for Marco Rose’s side, as they will have to make do without Manuel Akanji, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Gio Reyna. There was hope that Erling Haaland would be able to make his return to the squad on Thursday. But the striker has not made the trip to Glasgow.
It will interesting to see if Marco Rose decides to stick with the back three formation that worked really well in the 6-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Sunday.
Rangers will once again have to make do without Ianis Hagi, Filip Helander and Nnamdi Ofoborh. Aaron Ramsey has also been ruled out, but Leon Balogun appears to be fit giving Rangers a big boost heading into the game. Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos terrorised the Dortmund defenders in the first leg, and they will again be crucial to Rangers’ hopes on Thursday.
