Marco Rose has revealed that Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is still struggling with the muscle injury he suffered last month.
Erling Haaland has been out of action for more than a month now, and an immediate return does not appear to be in sight. Marco Rose gave an update on the Borussia Dortmund striker’s fitness on Saturday, and revealed that he is still not feeling fully comfortable with his movement.
"During his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against FC Augsburg, Marco Rose said:“Erling is still having a few problems, he doesn’t feel comfortable with his movement yet. We don’t want to risk another injury or play with his health. It’s going to take a few more days.”"
Haaland has missed each of Borussia Dortmund’s last five games with his muscle injury. And his absence was especially felt in the UEFA Europa League knockout round playoffs tie against Rangers, as the Black and Yellows fell to a 6-4 defeat on aggregate and suffered a shock elimination.
The Norwegian international is also set to miss Sunday’s trip to FC Augsburg, and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit in time for next weekend’s away game against Mainz 05.
This is Haaland’s second big injury of the season. The 21 year old spent more than a month on the sidelines earlier this season due to a torn hip flexor. He has made 20 appearances for Borussia Dortmund so far this season, and has 23 goals to his name.
In addition to Haaland, Borussia Dortmund will also have to make do without Marco Reus, Thomas Meunier, Manuel Akanji, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Gio Reyna for their Bundesliga clash against FC Augsburg on Sunday. But Raphael Guerreiro could make his return to action.
