Timo Werner to Borussia Dortmund ‘unlikely’ due to Chelsea striker’s high wages

Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in signing Timo Werner. But a move for the Chelsea striker does not appear to be feasible due to his high wages.
Sky Germany reported earlier this month that Borussia Dortmund are considering making a move for Timo Werner as they look to bolster their attack in the summer transfer window. They now claim that while Dortmund are interested in signing the German international, a move is unlikely because of his high wages.
Werner reportedly earns an annual salary of 15 million euros at Chelsea. His wages are higher than those of even the top earners at Borussia Dortmund. And the Black and Yellows are highly unlikely to be able to afford him, unless he decides to lower his wage demands.
Sky also add that there have not been any talks yet between the two parties, and it is also unclear whether the former RB Leipzig striker even wants a move away from Chelsea.

Werner has scored 19 goals in 77 appearances across all competitions since joining Chelsea in 2020 for a fee of 50 million euros.
Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing Karim Adeyemi, and have already reached an agreement with him on personal terms. But it was reported on Monday that talks with RB Salzburg are stalling as the two clubs are quite far apart in their valuations of the forward.
Borussia Dortmund are also said to be considering Patrik Schick as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland if the Norwegian international decides to leave in the summer.
