Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed that Borussia Dortmund have no plans to part ways with Marco Rose despite the team’s inconsistent performances this season.
This season has certainly not gone according to plan for Borussia Dortmund. The Black and Yellows have already been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the DFB-Pokal. And their hopes of winning the Bundesliga title are also hanging by a thread, with Bayern Munich nine points clear at the top of the table.
The team’s inconsistent performances have led to the criticism of Marco Rose, with some even calling for him to be sacked.
But Borussia Dortmund are not planning to part ways with their head coach anytime soon, Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed. The BVB CEO said in the latest issue of SportBILD that Marco Rose’s future is not up for discussion. “Marco Rose is in no way up for discussion at Borussia Dortmund,” Watzke said.

In fairness to Rose, Borussia Dortmund have had to deal with an unprecedented injury crisis this season. The likes of Erling Haaland and Gio Reyna have been forced to spend significant time on the sidelines this season, which has naturally had a big impact on the team’s performances and results. Rose has only been able to pick his best starting XI for a handful of games this season.
According to SportBILD, Rose continues to retain the support of the team. Mats Hummels and Marco Reus have both spoken positively about the 45 year old in recent weeks.
Borussia Dortmund are planning a squad overhaul in the summer transfer window. And the hope will be that Rose can lead the team to more success next season.
