Borussia Dortmund will be without Marco Reus, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels and Raphael Guerreiro for Sunday’s game against Arminia Bielefeld. But Erling Haaland and Gio Reyna could return to the squad.
Borussia Dortmund are set to return to Bundesliga action this weekend as they take on Arminia Bielefeld at the Signal Iduna Park. But they will have to make do without a number of key players on Sunday.
Marco Rose revealed the big list of Borussia Dortmund’s absentees during his pre-match press conference on Friday. Mats Hummels and Raphael Guerreiro are both in quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19. The game also comes too soon for Manuel Akanji, who is still not back in team training.
Marco Reus is sick, while Thomas Meunier, Youssoufa Moukoko, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Steffen Tigges are all dealing with injuries. So Rose will be in for some difficult decisions as he looks to pick his starting XI ahead of Sunday’s game.
But there is also some good news, with Erling Haaland and Gio Reyna both in line to make their returns to the squad. The duo have been training with the team this week, and could start on the bench on Sunday.
Arminia Bielefeld are dealing with a Covid-19 outbreak at the moment, and will be without a number of players on Sunday. According to Kicker, Gonzalo Castro, Guilherme Ramos, Joakim Nilsson, Nathan de Medina and head coach Frank Kramer have all tested positive for Covid-19.
