Jadon Sancho has said that he is grateful to Borussia Dortmund for giving him his first-team breakthrough before his move to Manchester United.

Jadon Sancho enjoyed a memorable four year spell at Borussia Dortmund and made his breakthrough at the club before developing into one of the world’s best young wingers. And the England international feels that he was lucky to be given an opportunity by the Black and Yellows.

Sancho made the surprise decision to join Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017 at the age of just 17. It did not take him long to break into the first-team, and he quickly established himself as one of the team’s most important players. The forward scored 50 goals and registered 64 assists in just 137 appearances for Borussia Dortmund before moving to Manchester United last summer.

In an interview with Sky Sport, Sancho spoke about his move to Borussia Dortmund and added that seeing Christian Pulisic star in the first-team at the age of 19 gave him confidence that he too could make a similar impact.

"“Borussia Dortmund just really caught my eye, obviously listening to what the club had to offer me, and also who they had. They had Christian Pulisic at the time who was only 19. Obviously seeing him do well, I looked at him and I thought that could also be me. Luckily enough, BVB gave me an opportunity and since then it’s only been ups.”"

Sancho also spoke about his move to Manchester United, and added that his England teammates from Liverpool and Chelsea also tried to convince him to join their clubs.

"“I remember being with England (national team), obviously Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw told me to come to United and things like that. There were also players from Chelsea and Liverpool, who all tried to convince me to join their clubs.”"

But Sancho ended up joining Manchester United for a transfer fee of 85 million euros. It has been a season full of learning for the 21 year old, and he feels that he is now starting to become more and more comfortable in the English Premier League.
