Borussia Dortmund: Jadon Sancho seals move to Manchester United

Jadon Sancho has completed his move away from Borussia Dortmund, joining Manchester United on a five year contract.

After months and months of speculation, the Jadon Sancho saga has finally come to an end. Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United had reached an agreement on a fixed fee of 85 million euros plus performance related add-ons last month. The England international underwent his medical tests earlier this month and signed a five year contract with the English Premier League side. Now the transfer has been made official by the two clubs.

Sancho’s move to Manchester United marks the end of his memorable four year stay at Borussia Dortmund. The winger moved to Germany from Manchester City in 2017, and developed into one of the world’s best young forwards in the world at the Signal Iduna Park. The 21 year old made a total of 137 appearances for the Black and Yellows, scoring 50 goals and providing 64 assists.

The transfer also brings an end to a long drawn saga that has dominated headlines over the last 18 months. Sancho was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United last summer as well. But the Premier League side failed to meet Borussia Dortmund’s transfer demands, and so he ended up staying. Sancho helped BVB win the DFB-Pokal and finish in the top four last season.

Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of signing PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen as the replacement for Sancho. The transfer is said to be imminent.

Few players in the world can match Sancho’s ability to produce game changing moments week in, week out. So replacing him certainly won’t be an easy task for Malen and Borussia Dortmund.
