Having made his comeback from injury during Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld, Gio Reyna is now aiming to return to 100% fitness very soon.

Gio Reyna came off the bench as Borussia Dortmund claimed a 1-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday. The USMNT international made his return to action three weeks after suffering an injury setback during his first BVB start in more than five months.

Reyna has had to endure a difficult season so far due to injuries. But the 19 year old is now finally feeling pain free, and is happy to be back in the team. In an interview with Viaplay Norway following Borussia Dortmund’s game against Arminia Bielefeld, Reyna said that he is not far from being back at 100% fitness.

"“It’s nice to be back. I got everything sorted out, I am pain-free, it was good to be back in front of the fans again and to see out the victory.”“I’ve worked with the medical staff since I got injured, and I really feel like we’ve solved the root of the problem. Now I have no pain and I am just looking to kick on and play game by game. Hopefully, in a few weeks I will be at 100%.”"

Reyna made his ninth appearance of the season so far on Sunday and helped Borussia Dortmund see out a hard fought win over Arminia Bielefeld.

Gio Reyna: Erling Haaland offers so much to Borussia Dortmund

Gio Reyna was also pleased to see Erling Haaland back on the pitch on Sunday. Like Reyna, Haaland has also had to spend a fair bit of time on the sidelines this season.

And Reyna believes that the Norwegian international’s return will give Borussia Dortmund a new dynamic.

"“Everyone knows what he brings to the table. He offers so much. He keeps defences on their toes the whole game. It’s just a new dynamic, he can do so much for us.”“His goalscoring ability is something we don’t take for granted. We’ll see that soon and we’re all really happy to have him back.”"

Both Reyna and Haaland will now be looking to continue to work towards getting back to full fitness in the coming weeks. The duo will likely start on the bench once again on Wednesday as Borussia Dortmund go up against Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga.
