Borussia Dortmund will hope to welcome back a number of returnees to the squad for their Bundesliga clash against FC Köln this weekend.
Borussia Dortmund will be looking to continue their title charge this weekend, and another tough away game awaits them against FC Köln. The Billy Goats are pushing for European qualification this season and will look to make things difficult for their opponents on Sunday.
Head coach Marco Rose will be sweating on the fitness of a number of key players ahead of Sunday’s game. Marco Reus has already been ruled out as he continues to recover from his illness. While Mahmoud Dahoud is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season on Wednesday.
Borussia Dortmund will be hoping for the returns of Mats Hummels, Manuel Akanji and Raphael Guerreiro. The trio are back in training, but a decision on their availability will only be made after the final training session of the week.
There are also question marks over Jude Bellingham, who will undergo some tests before a decision can be made on whether he can play against FC Köln. The England international had an ugly clash of heads with Mainz 05’s Niklas Tauer on Wednesday, but was able to play on.
FC Köln also have a long list of absentees ahead of the game. Steffen Baumgart’s side are set to be without club captain Jonas Hector, Florian Kainz, Ellyes Skhiri, Kingsley Schindler, Dejan Ljubicic, Tim Lemperle and Marvin Obuz on Sunday.
