No Borussia Dortmund players have been included in Hansi Flick’s Germany squad for the upcoming international break.

Germany have announced a 26-man squad for their upcoming international friendlies against Israel and the Netherlands, and no Borussia Dortmund players have made the cut.

Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus is currently sidelined with an illness and is set to miss his third game in a row this weekend. While Mats Hummels has only just returned to training after testing positive for Covid-19 last week.

Mahmoud Dahoud, Julian Brandt, Emre Can and Nico Schulz are the other BVB players who could have been in contention for a potential Germany call-up. But they haven’t been included in Hansi Flick’s squad.

Flick said during his press conference that the Borussia Dortmund players are still very much on his radar, and they still have a few matchdays left before the end of the season to make an impression. He also added that Reus would have been named in the squad if he was fit.

Niklas Süle, who will join Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich in the summer, will also miss Germany’s upcoming fixtures after suffering a torn hamstring.

Meanwhile, former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl has been recalled to the Germany squad. Weigl’s last appearance for Germany came all the way back in 2017, but he has fought his way back into contention after impressing for Portuguese side SL Benfica in recent months.

Mainz 05 midfielder Anton Stach has also received his first senior call-up for the German national team.
