Borussia Dortmund have announced that Nico Schulz and Felix Passlack will both be sidelined for a few weeks after picking up muscle injuries.

Nico Schulz and Felix Passlack both picked up muscle injuries on Sunday, and now Borussia Dortmund have announced that the duo will be sidelined for the next few weeks. The club have not revealed exactly how long the two full-backs will be out for.

Nico Schulz injured himself during the pre-match warm-up ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s game against FC Köln on Sunday, and was replaced in the starting XI by Raphael Guerreiro just minutes before kick-off. While Felix Passlack suffered his injury during the first half of the game, was replaced by Mats Hummels at half-time.

Muscle injuries have been the theme of Borussia Dortmund’s season so far, and the latest double blow comes at a time that is far from ideal for the club.

With Thomas Meunier likely to miss the rest of the season, Passlack’s injury leaves the Black and Yellows short of options at right-back. Marius Wolf and Emre Can are the two players who could fill in at right-back for Marco Rose’s side in the coming weeks.

Schulz has especially been susceptible to muscular problems, and this is his third muscle injury of the season so far. The left-back has been limited to just 23 appearances so far this season. Raphael Guerreiro is the only other left-back in the Borussia Dortmund squad.
