Borussia Dortmund duo Erling Haaland and Ansgar Knauff were on the scoresheet for their national teams on Friday evening.

Erling Haaland returned to the Norway starting XI on Friday for the first time since September. And he helped his national team secure a 2-0 win in their friendly against Slovakia. After a goalless first half, the Borussia Dortmund striker got on the end of Kristian Thorstvedt’s through ball before finishing coolly past the goalkeeper to open the scoring in the 77th minute.

It was Haaland’s first goal since his return from injury, and it will no doubt give his confidence a big boost heading into the business end of the season with Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard then doubled Norway’s lead just three minutes later to make sure of the win. With the result already in the bag, Haaland was given a breather in the 81st minute as he was subbed off by head coach Stale Solbakken.

Borussia Dortmund winger Ansgar Knauff, who is currently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, was also on the scoresheet on Friday. He helped the Germany U-21s claim a 4-0 win over Latvia in the 2023 UEFA European Championship qualifiers. It was Knauff’s first ever goal for the Germany U-21s in just his third appearance.

Mainz 05’s Jonathan Burkardt scored a brace for the Germany U-21s, before Bayern Munich’s Malik Tillman made sure of the win in the second half.

It was another impressive performance from the Germany U-21s who maintained top spot in their 2023 UEFA European Championship qualifying group. Antonio di Salvo’s side have won six of their seven games in the qualifiers so far.
