Hans-Joachim Watzke does not know whether Erling Haaland will stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond the end of the season. But he is annoyed by the constant media speculation about the striker’s future.

Borussia Dortmund have been forced to deal with constant speculation about Erling Haaland’s future in recent months. Rumours about Haaland’s future have dominated headlines in tabloids across England and Spain, with Manchester City and Real Madrid leading the way for his signature.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke is not sure whether Haaland will stay on beyond the end of the season. But he has been left annoyed by the constant media speculation, and the fact that they are asked questions about the Norwegian international’s future so often.

"When asked about the chances of Haaland staying at Borussia Dortmund by Sky, Watzke said:“I don’t know, you’ll have to ask Erling Haaland and not me. The only thing that annoys me is the media. Haaland can’t do anything about it, neither can I. Still, we have to answer this crap every day. It’s just the way it is.”"

In a separate interview with SportBILD, Watzke also confirmed that Borussia Dortmund have yet to receive any approaches for Haaland. But he admitted that if Manchester City launch a bid for the 21 year old, it will be very difficult for the Black and Yellows to compete financially.

Watzke said last month that he expects Haaland’s future to be resolved within the next six weeks. So it is quite possible that the striker will make a decision on his future soon.

Haaland reportedly has a release clause of 75 million euros in his Borussia Dortmund contract. But the figures being mentioned in media reports are much higher, taking into account his potential salary and the agent commissions being demanded by Mino Raiola and Alf-Inge Haaland.

The likelihood is that the constant media speculation about Haaland’s BVB future will continue until he makes a decision on where he will play next season.
