Mahmoud Dahoud’s injury reportedly not as serious as initially thought
Mahmoud Dahoud has reportedly received the initial all-clear, with the Borussia Dortmund midfielder’s shoulder injury not as serious as initially feared.
Borussia Dortmund’s injury woes continued on Friday as four players were forced to come off during the 2-0 win over VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. Mahmoud Dahoud injured his shoulder in the first half, and had to be replaced by Axel Witsel. But Ruhr Nachrichten report that his injury is not expected to be as serious as initially thought.
It remains to be seen what the actual extent of Dahoud’s injury is, or how long he will be sidelined for. But Borussia Dortmund will be hoping that he does not have to spend too long on the sidelines, with crunch games against Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich coming up in the next couple of weeks.
Ruhr Nachrichten add that it remains to be seen when Donyell Malen will be able to make his return. The Netherlands international missed the game against VfB Stuttgart due to muscular problems. Nico Schulz and Felix Passlack are also expected to return to training next week.
Gio Reyna suffered what looked like a recurrence of the hamstring injury that kept him out of action for five months earlier this season. And he will now be forced to miss the rest of the season as a result.
Mats Hummels and Raphael Guerreiro also had to be substituted during the game against VfB Stuttgart on Friday. Borussia Dortmund will likely provide an update on the status of all the injured players in the next few days.
