Borussia Dortmund have announced that Gio Reyna will miss the remaining five games of the season, while Mats Hummels will also be sidelined for several weeks.
Gio Reyna will miss the rest of the season after suffering a muscular and tendon injury against VfB Stuttgart on Friday, Borussia Dortmund have announced. The USMNT international was forced to come off less than two minutes into the game after picking up what looked like a right hamstring injury. And the Black and Yellows have now confirmed that he will not be able to play again this season.
Reyna has been forced to endure a number of injury problems this season. He suffered a hamstring injury while playing for the United States men’s national team in September, and had to spend five months on the sidelines. He then suffered another injury on his first start following his return, which ruled him out for another three weeks. And now the 19 year old faces another spell on the sidelines.
Mats Hummels also suffered an injury during the game against Stuttgart on Friday. He was replaced by Dan-Axel Zagadou at half-time after injuring his thigh. And Borussia Dortmund have announced that he will also be out for several weeks due to a muscle injury. It remains to be seen exactly how long Hummels and Reyna will be sidelined for.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund have also revealed that Mahmoud Dahoud’s shoulder injury requires further examinations. Ruhr Nachrichten reported on Saturday that Dahoud’s injury is not as serious as initially feared.
