Hans-Joachim Watzke spoke about Borussia Dortmund’s interest in signing Karim Adeyemi and Nico Schlotterbeck on Friday evening.

Borussia Dortmund have been heavily linked with a move for Karim Adeyemi in recent months, and Hans-Joachim Watzke has now confirmed that they are working on a deal to sign him. During the “19:09 – Der Schwarzgelbe Talk” with Ruhr NachrichtenWatzke said that the German international has already indicated that he wants to join BVB. And they are now looking to get the deal over the line.

"“If he came, we would try to get it done without an exit clause. But I’m not going to give a progress report. We are not under pressure. I think the player has already more or less expressed the feeling that he wants to join BVB. We have to make it work somehow.”"

Reports have claimed in recent weeks that Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement in principle on the transfer fee with RB Salzburg. The BVB bosses are also closing in on an agreement with the player, although some details still need to be sorted before the transfer can be made official.

Adeyemi has also been linked with the likes of Liverpool, RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona and Paris St. Germain. But his preference has always been to join Borussia Dortmund.

Watzke was also asked about whether Borussia Dortmund could make a move for SC Freiburg centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck. And while the BVB CEO did not want to reveal too much, he did hint at a potential transfer.

"“He has made a meteoric rise in recent months, has a good attitude and, above all, self-confidence. It’s no secret that we think he’s good.”"

According to reports, Schlotterbeck has already agreed to join Borussia Dortmund. BILD claimed earlier this week that the 22 year old even rejected a better offer from Bayern Munich. If the move goes through, Schlotterbeck will likely replace Manuel Akanji in the BVB squad. The Swiss international is being linked with a move to Manchester United.
