Marco Rose: I am really looking forward to next season
By Tushar Bahl
Marco Rose has no doubts about his Borussia Dortmund future, and he is already looking forward to getting started next season.
Sebastian Kehl’s comments about Marco Rose’s future fuelled a bit of doubt ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s game against Greuther Fürth on Saturday. When asked whether the 45 year old will still be BVB head coach next season, the incoming sporting director told Sky Sport: “I assume so today.” Kehl has since clarified his comments, confirming that Rose will stay on as head coach next season.
Marco Rose was asked about Sebastian Kehl’s comments after the game. And he made it clear that he will stay on as Borussia Dortmund head coach beyond the end of the season. The former Gladbach trainer added that he has a great relationship, both with the BVB bosses and his team.
"“Sebastian Kehl, Michael Zorc, Aki Watzke and I work together very closely. I will still be Borussia Dortmund’s head coach next season and I’m really looking forward to it because I have a very good relationship with my team and want to get things off the ground.”“Now we have one more game to play and we want to win that at home. Then we’ll make some transfer decisions and go into the new season with a lot of energy.”"
It has been a fairly underwhelming first season in charge of Borussia Dortmund for Marco Rose, with the team failing to meet expectations in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the DFB-Pokal. The Black and Yellows secured a second place finish in the Bundesliga on Saturday. But their inconsistent performances have led to a fair bit of criticism of Rose.
The BVB bosses have publicly supported Rose on a number of occasions, often citing the team’s poor luck with injuries. Borussia Dortmund have been blighted by injuries all season long, and Rose has only been able to pick his first-choice team on a handful of occasions.
Borussia Dortmund are set to overhaul their squad in the summer, and they have already made two signings ahead of the start of the transfer window. And the hope will be that Rose can lead the team to success next season.
