Borussia Dortmund II head coach Enrico Maaßen linked with Arminia Bielefeld, Augsburg jobs
Borussia Dortmund II head coach Enrico Maaßen is attracting the interest of a number of clubs, including FC Augsburg and Arminia Bielefeld.
The Bundesliga season has only just wrapped up, but the coaching carousel is already in full swing. VfL Wolfsburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Augsburg and the recently relegated Arminia Bielefeld and Greuther Fürth are all looking for new coaches. And Borussia Dortmund II head coach Enrico Maaßen is being eyed by a number of clubs.
SportBILD claimed at the weekend that Maaßen is the favourite to take over as the new FC Augsburg head coach after Markus Weinzierl’s decision to leave the club. The report was quickly quashed by Ruhr Nachrichten, who reported that Maaßen is planning to stay with the BVB U-23s in the 3. Liga next season.
But that hasn’t put an end to the speculation, with Kicker now reporting that Maaßen is a candidate to take over at Arminia Bielefeld. The magazine adds that he is also wanted by Greuther Fürth, but will probably not join the recently relegated club because there are other clubs interested in signing him.
Enrico Maaßen has made remarkable progress with the Borussia Dortmund U-23s since joining the club two years ago. The 38 year old is considered to be one of the most exciting young trainers in German football. So it is no surprise that he is attracting the interest of other clubs.
Maaßen led Borussia Dortmund II to promotion from the Regionalliga West in his first season in charge. The young Black and Yellows were forced to deal with a number of injury problems this season. But Maaßen still managed to lead the team to a respectable ninth place finish in the 3. Liga standings. He still has two years left on his BVB contract.
