New Borussia Dortmund signing Niklas Süle believes that they have what it takes to overcome the challenge of Bayern Munich and win the Bundesliga title next season.
Borussia Dortmund stunned the football world in February by reaching an agreement to sign Niklas Süle on a free transfer from Bayern Munich. The German international will join the Black and Yellows on a four year contract in the summer. And he already has big goals that he wants to achieve with his new club.
In an interview with SportBILD, Niklas Süle stated that he firmly believes in Borussia Dortmund’s chances of winning the Bundesliga title.
"“Of course I believe that I can win the championship with Dortmund. I made the decision with full conviction and I am convinced that we will really put in a fight for the title.”"
Süle will bring his title-winning know-how to Borussia Dortmund, having helped Bayern Munich win five Bundesliga titles, the UEFA Champions League and two DFB-Pokal titles during his five seasons with the club. The 26 year old attracted the interest of a number of big clubs, but he was immediately impressed by Borussia Dortmund’s plans for the next four years.
"“What BVB wants to achieve in the next four years impressed me immediately. Dortmund wants to take the next step, and that’s exactly what I want.”“These are big goals and I’m being asked to take responsibility for implementing them. The conversation wasn’t about money for a second. And I quickly realised what I wanted to do.”"
Süle will undoubtedly have a key role to play if Borussia Dortmund are to implement those big goals in the coming seasons. And he is looking forward to taking on the responsibility.
The BVB bosses have moved quickly in the transfer market and have already bolstered their squad with three new signings. And Süle is confident that they will have a squad in place to compete for the Bundesliga title next season.
"“You can already see how BVB reacted to the departure of Erling Haaland: With Karim Adeyemi, Nico Schlotterbeck and me, three German internationals have already been signed, and I think more will arrive. The people in charge have shown me that next season we will have a squad that will absolutely allow us to compete for the German championship. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have made the move.”"
The coming season promises to be a very exciting one for Borussia Dortmund. And Süle’s words are certainly an encouraging sign for supporters, who will be hoping to see BVB end Bayern’s dominance next season.
