Edin Terzic is set to become the new Borussia Dortmund head coach after the club’s shock decision to part ways with Marco Rose.

Borussia Dortmund made the decision to part ways with Marco Rose after an intensive end of season analysis meeting with the now former trainer. And according to Ruhr Nachrichten, Edin Terzic is set to step in and succeed the 45 year old.

The newspaper claims that Terzic’s return to the Borussia Dortmund dugout is imminent, just one season after he made way for Marco Rose.

Terzic, who was initially the assistant coach to Lucien Favre, was appointed interim head coach when the Swiss tactician was sacked in December 2020. He led the Black and Yellows to the DFB-Pokal title during the 2020/21 season. But with the decision to appoint Rose as permanent head coach already in place, the BVB bosses decided to make Terzic the club’s technical director.

Now with Rose sacked after just one season, it appears that Terzic is set to return to the sidelines. And the 39 year old will be aiming to lead Borussia Dortmund’s title charge next season.

Terzic was a Borussia Dortmund supporter growing up and enjoys a great standing at the club. During his time as interim head coach, he helped get the best out of a number of players in the Borussia Dortmund squad.

BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said last year that the team was half dead when Terzic took over as interim head coach, and he brought it back to life. The hope will be that he can make a similar impact this time around.
