Borussia Dortmund could be set to compete with Bayern Munich for the signature of VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic.

Borussia Dortmund are in the market for a new striker following the departure of Erling Haaland to Manchester City. And according to BILD, they are considering VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic as a serious option for the role.

Kalajdzic has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent weeks, and even had a meeting with the Bundesliga champions last week. But BILD claim that the 24 year old would prefer to join Borussia Dortmund over Bayern Munich. This is because he reportedly feels that he has a better chance of being a regular starter in Dortmund.

The tabloid adds that Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic can imagine having the towering striker as part of his system, unlike former coach Marco Rose (who is said to have had doubts about him).

A transfer for Kalajdzic would reportedly cost around 25 million euros, which would make him a cheaper alternative to Sébastian Haller. The Ajax striker is said to be Borussia Dortmund’s first choice target to replace Haaland, but the Dutch giants want 35 million euros to part ways with him.

A number of other clubs are also interested in signing Kalajdzic, who has scored 24 goals in 57 appearances since joining Stuttgart in 2019. The Austrian international has one year left on his current contract.

The Black and Yellows have already made a big splash in the transfer market this summer, and will first need to sell some players if they want to bring in a new striker.
