Borussia Dortmund extend the contract of U-19s head coach Mike Tullberg
Borussia Dortmund U-19s head coach Mike Tullberg has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2026.
On the back of an incredible season for the U-19s team, Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of head coach Mike Tullberg. The 36 year old’s new contract will run until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Tullberg is considered to be one of the most exciting young coaches in Germany. He has been with the Black and Yellows since 2019, and was appointed head coach of the U-19s team in 2020. He has done an excellent job with the Borussia Dortmund U-19s over the last two years, playing a vital role in the development of the club’s youngsters.
The BVB U-19s are coming off a memorable campaign that saw them win the U-19 Bundesliga title. They also reached the final of the DFB-Pokal der Junioren, and also made it to the UEFA Youth League quarterfinal, delivering a number of stunning performances along the way.
Three players from Mike Tullberg’s team made their first-team debuts this season – Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Tom Rothe and Lion Semic. Bynoe-Gittens is set to be a permanent part of the first-team starting from next season, and Semic has also signed a professional contract with Borussia Dortmund.
Former Borussia Dortmund player and current director of youth development centre Lars Ricken praised Tullberg for his work in the overall development of the U-19s team and the individual development of each player.
Tullberg will now look to build on this successful season for the U-19s and continue his excellent work in the coming years.
