The agent of Nico Schulz has revealed that the left-back is very open to a move away from Borussia Dortmund.
Nico Schulz is free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, and his agent has now admitted that the left-back is looking for a new challenge. But Schulz will not leave the Black and Yellows for just any club. He wants to go to a good club, and he will stay in Dortmund if a move does not materialise.
In an interview with BILD, Nico Schulz’ agent Roger Wittmann said:
"“Nico hasn’t been playing, is not satisfied with himself, is looking for a new sporting challenge, is very open to a change. That’s how it is when things don’t fit, when you don’t appreciate each other anymore.”“But he’s not going to make a change just for the sake of making a change. He’ll go to a good club, and if that doesn’t work out, he’ll stay.”"
Schulz is coming off another disappointing season with Borussia Dortmund. He was limited to just 24 appearances in the recently concluded campaign, and also had to deal with a number of injury problems.
The 29 year old, who joined Borussia Dortmund from TSG Hoffenheim in 2019, still has two years left on his current contract. The BVB bosses have yet to receive a concrete offer for Schulz, although it was reported last week that Serie A side Lazio are interested in signing him.
Reports have claimed that Borussia Dortmund want to sell both Nico Schulz and Raphael Guerreiro this summer in order to sign David Raum from TSG Hoffenheim. A move for the German international will likely cost more than 30 million euros due to a release clause in his contract.
As for Schulz, it looks like both the club and the player are keen to part ways this summer. And the hope will be that a buyer can be found for the left-back in the coming weeks.
