Borussia Dortmund continue to bolster youth roster under Sebastien Kehl’s directive
Borussia Dortmund continue to strengthen at youth level as Sebastian Kehl’s first summer as sporting director continues to unfold. The latest new addition to their U-19s team is Noa-Gabriel Simić, a Croatian born forward who joins the Black and Yellows from FC Augsburg.
The 17 year old Simić joins Dortmund on a free transfer and is slated to play for the U-19s for the foreseeable future. Simić predominantly plays as an attacking midfielder, and scored an impressive 11 goals over the course of 18 appearances for the Augsburg U-19s this season. The youngster comes to Dortmund with quite a bit of excitement surrounding him.
Simić is known for his creativity and prowess in dribbling. He also has the ability to take shots from distance, making him an exciting prospect all things considered.
In addition to Simić, Borussia Dortmund seem to be eyeing a move for highly rated left back Prince Aning from Ajax’s U-18s setup. The Dutch youth international played a total of 23 games for his side and contributed with two assists on the offensive end this season.
Borussia Dortmund’s interest in the player goes back several months and is well documented. So it wouldn’t be surprising should Dortmund decide to intensify their pursuit and sign Aning soon.
Borussia Dortmund’s transfer business has been quite impressive both in terms of the first-team players the club has brought in as well as the types of players they are bringing in at the youth level. The club seems to be gearing up to be competitive on all fronts for the new season, which is just the direction fans would have wanted the trajectory of Sebastian Kehl’s time as sporting director to go in from the very start. These moves set a precedent for future success that the club will aspire to achieve with Kehl at the helm.
