Bundesliga 2022/23 season: The key dates from Borussia Dortmund’s fixture list

With the full fixture list for the 2022/23 Bundesliga season now released, the countdown has begun for what promises to be another thrilling campaign. We take a look at some of the fixtures that could shape Borussia Dortmund’s season.
Matchday 2: SC Freiburg vs Borussia Dortmund (August 12-14, 2022)
This fixture may not be as exciting as some of the others on this list. But matchday two often tends to result in an early season stumble for Borussia Dortmund.
The Black and Yellows have won just two of their last six games on the second matchday of the Bundesliga season, suffering three defeats in the process. Dortmund also faced SC Freiburg away from home on matchday two of the 2021/22 season, and were beaten 2-1.
SC Freiburg are coming off an incredible season that saw them finish sixth in the Bundesliga standings. They will be determined to fight for a top six place once again next season. So Borussia Dortmund will have to be at their best, because beating SC Freiburg away from home will certainly not be an easy task.
The game will also see Nico Schlotterbeck return to SC Freiburg for the first time since his move to Borussia Dortmund. And that will no doubt add to the spectacle of what should be a fascinating contest.
