Borussia Dortmund will turn their attention to player sales after completing the signing of Sebastien Haller for a club record fee.
Borussia Dortmund have made quite a big splash in the transfer market this summer, with Sebastien Haller about to become their eighth signing of the summer transfer window. The 28 year old will join the Black and Yellows on a four year contract for a club record fee of 31 million euros plus four million euros in bonuses.
Signing a new striker to replace Erling Haaland’s was on top of Borussia Dortmund’s list of priorities for the summer transfer window. And Haller’s arrival means that the majority of their transfer business is now done.
The BVB bosses would still like to bring in David Raum from TSG Hoffenheim. But they will first need to sell some players in order to generate the funds required to sign the left-back.
A number of players are free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer. Manuel Akanji heads that list after rejecting the club’s offer to extend his contract. According to multiple reports in Germany, Dortmund have yet to receive a concrete offer for the Swiss centre-back. He has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and Inter Milan in recent weeks.
Nico Schulz is also free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, and Raphael Guerreiro and Thorgan Hazard could also be sold if a suitable bid arrives. Hazard is reportedly attracting the interest of Newcastle United, while Guerreiro has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona.
It has been a very busy transfer window so far for Borussia Dortmund. But Sebastian Kehl and co. must now play the waiting game as they look to finalise their squad planning ahead of next season.
