Borussia Dortmund: Marco Reus’ rehabilitation is “well on track”
Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus suffered an injury while on international duty a few weeks ago, but he seems to be well on the road to recovery according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
Marco Reus suffered what was classified as a muscle strain in the right thigh, and thankfully his layoff seems to be a relatively short one. The Borussia Dortmund attacker has become well known not only for his skill with the ball at his feet but also his struggles with injuries, so any injury is always regarded with seriousness in the hope that he won’t be sidelined for an extended period of time, as has unfortunately happened in the past.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Reus is currently undergoing treatment while he is on vacation with his family in Ibiza. The outlook is very positive, with the Dortmund captain expected to be back with the team for preseason along with other returning internationals in July.
Despite turning 33 this year, Reus played a critical role for Dortmund this season; a season filled with injury-related trials and tribulations. Despite his extensive history, he was one of the players to remain mostly fit over the course of the season, barring a few knee problems and a bout with illness. The BVB captain only missed a total of 7 games for the club over the course of the season, which by this season’s standards wasn’t too bad.
Going into next reason, Reus will once again be expected to play an important role for his side. And staying fit, especially at this late stage in his career, will be crucial to making sure that his impact lends a hand to Dortmund’s potential successes in the coming football-calendar year.
