Edin Terzic: Mateu Morey bursting with energy after 12 months on the sidelines

Edin Terzic has revealed that Mateu Morey is bursting with energy as he gets ready to make his return to action after 12 months on the sidelines.
Mateu Morey is back in training after a difficult 12 months. The right-back injured his lateral collateral, capsular and anterior cruciate ligaments in May 2021 and had to undergo two surgeries to repair his knee. Morey had to do months of rehab, but he is now finally closing in on his return to action.
And Edin Terzic has revealed that the 22 year old is full of energy and excitement ahead of his long-awaited return. But Borussia Dortmund will look to slowly integrate him back into the squad in order to ensure that he does not suffer any further setbacks.
"In a media round, the BVB head coach said: “He’s been in rehab for a year, worked a lot in the gym and on the pitch to build up his endurance – he’s fit. With him, it’s about how stable he is – both physically and mentally.”“You have to get used to the idea of going into the next duel or header without fear. That’s where he is making an excellent impression. We’re the ones who have to slow him down a bit, because he’s bursting with energy, with euphoria.”“He’d like to get going right away. But it’s better to have an extra day or two of security to go into the season conscientiously.”"
Morey said last month that he is now looking forward to the future after missing the entire 2021/22 season. The FC Barcelona academy graduate established himself as Borussia Dortmund’s first choice right-back when Terzic was interim head coach before suffering his injury. And he will be aiming to make that spot his own once again over the course of the season.
Mateu Morey is rated very highly by those in charge at Borussia Dortmund, as evidenced by the fact that they did not sign another right-back even though he was sidelined for a long period. The Black and Yellows will take a cautious approach with Morey in the coming months. But if everything goes well, there is every chance that he could become a regular starter for years to come.
