Julian Brandt, Manuel Akanji, Thorgan Hazard and Nico Schulz have reportedly been told that they are free to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Borussia Dortmund are going through a squad overhaul, and have already made a number of big signings this summer. A number of players could now leave in the coming weeks, with Sky Sport claiming that Julian Brandt, Manuel Akanji, Thorgan Hazard and Nico Schulz have all been told that they will not play a significant role in the club’s plans for the upcoming season.

The report adds that the quartet can leave the club this summer if the BVB bosses receive suitable offers for them.

Manuel Akanji wants to leave Borussia Dortmund and has turned down the club’s offer of a new contract. The Black and Yellows have since brought in defensive reinforcements in the form of Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle. Akanji has been linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks, but Dortmund have yet to receive a concrete offer for him.

Borussia Dortmund are keen to sell Nico Schulz this summer, with the left-back unlikely to play again for the club. There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Schulz’ future in recent days. But it still remains to be seen if he will leave the club before the transfer window closes.

Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard have both struggled for consistency since joining BVB in 2019, and they may find opportunities hard to come by in the coming season.

Borussia Dortmund have brought in Karim Adeyemi, Sebastien Haller, and Jayden Braaf this summer to bolster their attack. While Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has also been promoted to the first team.
