Mateu Morey and Gio Reyna both made their comebacks as Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw by Nuri Sahin’s Antalyaspor on Saturday.

Less than 24 hours after their 3-0 win over 1860 Munich in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, Borussia Dortmund returned to action to take on Antalyaspor in a friendly match. Julian Brandt’s early opener was canceled out by Alassane Ndao’s equaliser at the hour mark as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.

Edin Terzic named a strong lineup for the game, with the likes of Julian Brandt, Thorgan Hazard, Emre Can and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens all starting for Borussia Dortmund. Also in the starting XI were Mateu Morey and Gio Reyna, with the duo making their comebacks after spending several months on the sidelines.

Morey made his first appearance since May 2021, while Reyna played his first game in almost four months. The highly rated duo showed some good glimpses of their quality early on as Borussia Dortmund made a strong start to the game.

Reyna delivered the low cross that resulted in Brandt’s early opener, with the German international scoring after Thorgan Hazard’s initial shot was saved. Morey and Reyna were both taken off at half time after getting a solid 45-minute runout.

Antalyaspor, who are coached by Borussia Dortmund legend Nuri Sahin, came out of the blocks quickly after the break. And they were rewarded for their pressure with a goal in the 60th minute. Both teams had chances to score late on, but the game ended 1-1.
