Report: Borussia Dortmund not interested in signing Naby Keïta
Borussia Dortmund are not interested in signing Naby Keïta, despite reports linking the Liverpool midfielder with a move to the club.
Reports in England claimed earlier on Wednesday that Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Liverpool central midfielder Naby Keïta. But Sky Sport have now refuted those claims, adding that the 27 year old is not a target for the Black and Yellows.
Borussia Dortmund are well stocked in central midfield at the moment, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Mahmoud Dahoud, Salih Özcan, Emre Can, and the highly rated Abdoulaye Kamara all in the first-team squad. So a move for Naby Keïta would certainly not make much sense, especially this late in the transfer window.
The former RB Leipzig midfielder has just one year left on his current contract with Liverpool. And it is being reported that he could leave the English Premier League side before the transfer window closes in a week’s time. Keïta, who has made 117 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool so far, is currently sidelined with an injury.
Reports in Italy have also linked Borussia Dortmund with moves for Juventus midfield duo Denis Zakaria and Weston McKennie in recent days. But with plenty of midfield options in their squad and a lack of available funds, the Black and Yellows will not be looking to bring in another midfielder this summer.
Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl also made it clear last week that they will not be making any big money moves before the transfer window closes.
