Emre Mor

The numbers:
Bought for: 9.75 million euros
Sold for: 13 million euros
Current market value: 3 million euros

Another member of the 2016 transfer class. The young Turkish international was signed from Nordsjaelland right before the start of the European Championships. Michael Zorc was so excited by the winger’s talent that he agreed to pay just under ten million euros, making him the most expensive Danish Superliga player at the time.

The sporting director must have felt pretty good about that decision when the Copenhagen-born dribbler was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing Turkish side.

Mor continued to impress in his early Borussia Dortmund days: he scored on his debut against Darmstadt and even Thomas Tuchel gushed about his performance. He would have picked up a couple of assists as well, if his team mates were more prolific in front of goal.

Unfortunately, the Tuchel-Mor lovefest didn’t last too long. The beginning of the end was an unnecessary red card against Hertha on matchday seven. He briefly made his way back into the squad after that, but fitness issues and constant disagreeements with the coaching staff signalled an early exit for the explosive offensive player.

Would he have a role on today’s squad?
Not every fan was happy when he left, but with the benefit of interacting with and seeing Emre Mor on a daily basis, the Borussia Dortmund management made the right choice to cut ties after just one season. They even made a pretty profit and since he left the club, he has played for five different teams.

He most probably wouldn’t make the match day squad even with Borussia Dortmund currently experiencing another injury riddled season.
