Marco Reus closing in on return to action

Marco Reus could make his return to action this weekend after recovering from the ankle injury he suffered during the game against Schalke 04 last month.
Borussia Dortmund have received a big boost ahead of their Bundesliga topspiel against Union Berlin this weekend, with Marco Reus closing in on his return to action. The BVB captain made his return to team training earlier this week and will take part in the entire training session on Friday and Saturday.
If everything goes according to plan, Reus could then make his comeback from injury on Sunday as Borussia Dortmund take on league leaders Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.
Reus suffered a serious looking ankle injury during the Bundesliga clash against Schalke 04 last month and had to be stretchered off the pitch as a result. There were fears that he could even be forced to miss next month’s FIFA World Cup. But he is now about to make his return to action, in what will no doubt also be welcome news for Germany head coach Hansi Flick.
Marco Reus made an excellent start to the season before suffering his injury, registering three goals and four assists in just ten appearances across all competitions. He will now look to find his match rhythm and sharpness again in the coming weeks ahead of the World Cup.
Borussia Dortmund are set to play nine games over a 27-day period before the FIFA World Cup break, with crucial games coming up in the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League and the DFB-Pokal.
