Sunday’s game showed that Jude Bellingham and Salih Özcan are both in desperate need for a breather. And Edin Terzic needs to give both players some rest for Wednesday’s game. However, it remains to be seen if that will be possible with hardly any midfield options available in the squad.
Emre Can is the only other available defensive midfielder in the Borussia Dortmund squad, and he could come into the starting XI for Özcan on Wednesday.
With Borussia Dortmund set to have the majority of possession against Hannover 96, Julian Brandt could play in the number eight role. That would give the playmaker the opportunity to make things happen from the middle of the park. Gio Reyna could be another potential option, although he has only just returned from injury.
