Gregor Kobel is reportedly on Bayern Munich’s list of candidates to replace Manuel Neuer, and the Bavarians could look to make a move for the Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper in 2024.

Gregor Kobel has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Bundesliga since joining Borussia Dortmund from VfB Stuttgart 18 months ago. The Swiss international’s performances have caught the eye of Bayern Munich, who are said to be keeping tabs on his progress.

This is being reported by Kicker, who add that Kobel is on Bayern Munich’s list of candidates for Manuel Neuer’s long-term successor.

The magazine claims that the defending Bundesliga champions have already made initial and tentative contact with the 25 year old. And he could potentially become a target for Bayern in 2024, which is when Neuer’s current contract is set to expire.

For now, Bayern Munich are looking to sign a short-term replacement for Manuel Neuer after he broke his leg while on a skiing trip last month. Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer is said to be their top target to replace the Germany international, who has been ruled out until the end of the season.

Gregor Kobel was asked about Bayern Munich’s reported interest in him last month. The BVB goalkeeper said that the reports are not of any concern to him, and added that he is happy at his current club. He still has more than three years left on his current contract with the Black and Yellows. So the chances of Kobel joining Bayern anytime soon are very slim at best.
