Sebastian Kehl relaxed about the futures of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels

Sebastian Kehl has said that he is very relaxed about the futures of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels, with the duo’s contracts set to expire in less than six months.
A key period is approaching for Borussia Dortmund, who will be eager to sort out the futures of players who will be out of contract in the summer. Marco Reus and Mats Hummels are both on the list of players with less than six months left on their current contracts. But Sebastian Kehl is very relaxed about the futures of the club’s captain and vice captain.
In an interview with Kicker, the Borussia Dortmund sporting director said that he is confident of making progress in contract negotiations with the duo.
"“From the talks we have had with both of them, I can say that we are very relaxed about the situation. After all, both have already publicly commented on this in recent weeks. Of course, players think about their futures. That’s normal. I’m convinced that we’ll find a way to move forward together in our discussions.”"
Reports have claimed in recent days that Marco Reus has been left annoyed by Borussia Dortmund prioritising contract extension talks with Youssoufa Moukoko. Kehl denied those claims and reiterated that he has been in constant talks with the players and their agents.
"“That’s nonsense. I’ve personally spoken to all of our players whose contracts are expiring, and I’m in constant communication with their advisors,” Kehl said."
Reus, who joined Borussia Dortmund in 2012, said last year that he would like to stay with the club until the end of his playing career. But his agent recently stated that they are keeping all options open.
Hummels, meanwhile, said at the start of the season that he wants to wait before making a final decision on his future.
The expectation is that Borussia Dortmund will offer contract extensions to both Marco Reus and Mats Hummels. And the futures of the experienced duo will likely become clearer in the coming months.
