Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga is unlikely to join Borussia Dortmund on loan this month despite rumours to the contrary.

Borussia Dortmund have been linked with a move for Anthony Elanga in recent weeks, with reports saying that they could look to sign the Manchester United winger on loan until the end of the season. But Sky Sport have now put cold water on the rumours, claiming that the player is not an option for the Black and Yellows at the moment.

It was recently reported that Elanga wants to leave Manchester United this month, and his priority is to join Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal.

The BVB bosses have always stated that they are not planning to be very active in the January transfer window. But Borussia Dortmund have already made one signing this month, bringing in right-back Julian Ryerson from Union Berlin for a fee of five million euros.

With Elanga now unlikely to make the switch to Germany, it remains to be seen if BVB will look to bolster their attacking ranks before the transfer window closes in less than two weeks’ time.

Borussia Dortmund struggled for goals for much of the first half of the season, thanks in part to the lack of options in attack. But with the likes of Sebastien Haller, Marco Reus, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens now fit and available again, the hope will be that Edin Terzic’s side can pose more of a threat going forward in the second half of the season.
