Edin Terzić underlines Borussia Dortmund’s happiness after signing Julien Duranville
Borussia Dortmund signed Julien Duranville from Belgian side RSC Anderlecht last week, with the talented winger seemingly set for the fast track into the first team.
Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzić has underlined his happiness after the signing of young Belgian winger Julien Duranville. Terzić spoke quite highly of the former RSC Anderlecht winger in the press conference prior to his side’s win over Bayer Leverkusen.
"“We’ve been following Julien’s progress for some time now. He is a highly talented winger who feels very comfortable on the right side and is very strong in one-on-one situations, has very good creativity and can offer a lot of goal threat. We are sure that he will help us a lot in the medium term as well as in the long term in the future.”"
Borussia Dortmund have an exceptional record when it comes to identifying footballers earmarked for great things. Many players have come to the Westfalenstadion at a young age and made a great impact for Die Schwarzgelben. You don’t have to look far to find a primary example of this, with Jude Bellingham captaining his side at the age of 19. Bellingham has gone from strength to strength since his move from Birmingham City to BVB in the summer of 2020.
Duranville comes to Borussia Dortmund in similar circumstances, and while his fee wasn’t as high (8.5 million euros), the fact that he will be directly integrated into the first team speaks volumes towards the amount of belief the club has in terms of his ability to be an important player.
It will be some time before Duranville can fully integrate with his new club. The young Belgian is currently still recovering from a muscular injury he picked up in December. With Borussia Dortmund’s track record of picking out talented youngsters and making them into stars, I think it’s safe to say that we should look forward to Duranville’s time with the club with an air of excitement and anticipation.
