Edin Terzic has heaped praise on Marco Reus, saying that the Borussia Dortmund captain is a very important player for the club.

It has been a very frustrating season so far for Marco Reus, who has been forced to spend several weeks on the sidelines due to injury and illness. The 33 year old made his return to action during the Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. And Edin Terzic is delighted to have him back in the squad.

During Thursday’s pre-match press conference, the Borussia Dortmund head coach said that Reus is a very important part of the team.

"“Marco is our captain, he plays an extremely important role for us. We missed him a lot, so we’re just happy that he’s healthy again, that he’s fit again. The interaction with Marco has been good, he feels good. We know all about his qualities.”"

Reus made an impressive start to the season but suffered an ankle injury during the Bundesliga clash against Schalke 04 in September and had to miss the FIFA World Cup as a result. He made his return to training last month, before an illness forced him to miss his side’s first two games of the calendar year.

After making his 350th appearance in the Bundesliga last weekend, Reus will now be determined to pick up where he left off before his injury and lead Borussia Dortmund’s charge in all three competitions.

The next few months will be crucial for Marco Reus in terms of his future as well, with less than six months left on his current Borussia Dortmund contract. It remains to be seen what the future will look like for the club captain. Although the likelihood is that he will stay at BVB beyond the end of the season.
