Borussia Dortmund part ways with U-23s head coach Christian Preußer
Borussia Dortmund have announced that they have parted ways with U-23s head coach Christian Preußer, with the team in 16th place in the 3. Liga standings.
Borussia Dortmund II are in search for a new head coach after making the decision to part ways with Christian Preußer. The Black and Yellows announced the decision on Monday evening with the team struggling near the foot of the 3. Liga standings and the threat of relegation to the Regionalliga looming large.
Preußer was only appointed Borussia Dortmund II head coach in June after Enrico Maaßen left the club to join FC Augsburg. Maaßen’s departure and Preußer’s arrival came just a month before the start of the 3. Liga season, which meant that the team was on the back foot right from the outset.
In the end, the Borussia Dortmund U-23s won six and lost 12 of their 21 games under the stewardship of Christian Preußer. The former Fortuna Düsseldorf head coach leaves the club in 16th place in the 3. Liga standings.
Borussia Dortmund U-23s lost six of their last seven games under Preußer. Although they did claim a 2-1 win over FC Ingolstadt in what proved to be Preußer’s final game in charge of the club.
BVB II sporting director Ingo Preuß said that the decision to part ways with Christian Preußer was a very difficult one. But they felt that they needed to make a change in order to achieve their goals for the season. Borussia Dortmund will make a decision on the next head coach of the U-23s team in the coming days.
