Borussia Dortmund U-19s to face Paris St. Germain in UEFA Youth League round of 16
The draw for the UEFA Youth League round of 16 has been made, and the Borussia Dortmund U-19s will go up against Paris St. Germain.
Borussia Dortmund U-19s will square off against Paris St. Germain in the round of 16 of the UEFA Youth League. The one-legged tie will be played on February 28 or March 1 in Dortmund, and the team that comes out on top will go on to face one of Hajduk Split and Manchester City in the quarterfinals.
After finishing second in their UEFA Youth League group, the Borussia Dortmund U-19s had to make it through the play-off round in order to qualify for the last 16. Mike Tullberg’s side came from behind to beat Scottish side Hibernian 2-1 earlier this month, thanks to goals from Julian Rijkhoff and Hendry Blank in the second half.
The Black and Yellows’ reward for making it to the round of 16 is a home game against the Paris St. Germain U-19s.
The French side finished top in their UEFA Youth League group ahead of Juventus, Benfica and Maccabi Haifa. Paris St. Germain have a number of talented players in their U-19s squad, including forward Ilyes Housni, midfielders Ethan Mbappé, Ismaël Gharbi and Noha Lemina, as well as defender Younes El Hannach.
A number of PSG U-19s players have also been promoted to the first-team in recent months, including Warren Zaïre-Emery and El Chadaille Bitshiabu.
Borussia Dortmund U-19s reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Youth League last season before losing to Atletico Madrid at the Westfalenstadion. And they will be eager to make it to the last 8 once again this season.
