Borussia Dortmund will have to make do without Karim Adeyemi for the next three weeks after he picked up an injury during the game against Hertha Berlin on Sunday.

Karim Adeyemi was forced to come off during Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against Hertha Berlin on Sunday after picking up a hamstring injury while setting up the team’s second goal. The Black and Yellows have now announced that the 21 year old has a torn muscle fibre that will keep him sidelined for approximately three weeks.

Adeyemi’s injury is a big blow for Borussia Dortmund. The forward has made an excellent start to 2023, and has found the back of the net in each of his last four appearances for Edin Terzic’s side. He has scored six goals and assisted a further three in 24 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Borussia Dortmund will now have to make do without Adeyemi for at least their next four games. The Germany international looks set to miss the return leg of BVB’s UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Chelsea, as well as the crunch Bundesliga clash against RB Leipzig. He could return to the squad in time for the home game against FC Köln on March 18.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens came on to replace Karim Adeyemi against Hertha Berlin on Sunday. And he could come into the starting XI for Borussia Dortmund’s trip to TSG Hoffenheim this weekend. Gio Reyna and Donyell Malen are the other potential options available to Edin Terzic. Raphael Guerreiro is another player who can potentially slot into the left wing role.
