Schalke 04 vs Borussia Dortmund: Form Guide
By Tushar Bahl
Two of the most in-form teams in the Bundesliga will collide this weekend as Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 square off in the Revierderby.
Borussia Dortmund will return to Bundesliga action this weekend as they take on local rivals Schalke 04 in what should be a fascinating derby affair. Following their elimination from the UEFA Champions League, the Black and Yellows will look to get back to winning ways and maintain their charge for the Bundesliga title.
But Schalke 04 are also in excellent form at the moment, and will continue their bid to avoid relegation. Here we assess the form of both teams going into what will be the 100th Revierderby in Bundesliga history.

Schalke 04 appeared to be relegation favourites at the half-way mark of the Bundesliga season. But their turnaround in form over the last six games has been nothing short of remarkable. The Royal Blues have won their last two matches, and played out four goalless draws in a row before that. They now find themselves level on points with 15th placed Stuttgart.
The biggest reason for Schalke’s upturn in form has been their defensive resolve. Thomas Reis’ side have conceded just one goal in their last five matches, with veteran goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann proving to be a key to their defensive improvement.
Schalke’s lack of goals remains a worry for them. But they will be sure to bring the fight to their Ruhr rivals this weekend, buoyed by the vociferous support from the home crowd.
Borussia Dortmund
Last 5 games: LWWWW
Borussia Dortmund were handed their first defeat since the turn of the year on Tuesday, as they lost 2-0 to Chelsea. The Champions League elimination will no doubt sting for Edin Terzic’s side, who have made a spectacular start to 2023.
But they cannot afford to dwell on it for too long, and the game against Schalke will offer them with the perfect opportunity to get momentum back on side.
Borussia Dortmund have already beaten the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, SC Freiburg and RB Leipzig since the turn of the year. They will now be aiming to continue their fine run of form in the Bundesliga on Saturday, and inflict a blow to their arch-rivals’ hopes of avoiding relegation in the process.
A win over Schalke would also help Borussia Dortmund make it nine wins in a row in the Bundesliga, which would be a club record.
