Edin Terzic believes that Borussia Dortmund only have themselves to blame for their failure to get the three points against Schalke 04 on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund dropped points in the Bundesliga for the first time since the turn of the year on Saturday, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by local rivals Schalke 04. The Black and Yellows took the lead twice, but failed to hold on to it as Schalke turned things around and rescued a 2-2 draw.

For Edin Terzic, the 100th edition of the Revierderby in the Bundesliga was a frustrating one, as he saw his side let their advantage slip on two occasions against a team battling to avoid relegation. The 40 year old felt that they controlled proceedings in the first half, but stopped playing their natural game after the break.

In an interview with Sky Sport, the Borussia Dortmund head coach said:

"“We said before the game that there are two ways to play the game. One is, we let ourselves get caught up in Schalke’s emotional and passionate game, then things will get tight. Or we steer clear and try to win by playing our game.”“We managed to do that in the first half. We controlled the ball and were able to create lots of goalscoring chances. In the second half, we stopped doing that and then things got wild. In the end, we let the win slip out of our hands and will now head home with a draw.”"

The draw against Schalke 04 leaves Borussia Dortmund two points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga standings with ten games to go in the season. The Bavarians’ superior goal difference and sublime form means that they are now the firm favourites to win the Bundesliga crown this season.

Edin Terzic is not thinking about the Bundesliga title at the moment and wants his players to only focus on their next match.

Next up for Borussia Dortmund is a home game against FC Köln on Saturday. That will be followed by the international break, before BVB travel to Bayern Munich for a massive top of the table clash on April 1.
